Summary

This funding opportunity is open to nonprofit organizations operating in specific regions of two states. The program is intended to support nonprofits that focus on improving the quality of life in communities, including regions in the Mid‑Atlantic (especially Maryland) and another Western state. Its purpose is to help organizations strengthen their services and impact in five priority areas: health care, education, youth programs, veterans, and human services.

Eligible applicants are nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations (or equivalent) that serve local populations within the designated states. Applicants must demonstrate a track‑record (typically at least two years of operation) along with strong stewardship, leadership, and capacity. The program does not invite applications from for‑profit businesses or individuals. Applicants may seek funding for one‑year or multi‑year initiatives, and they are expected to provide measurable outcomes for the community.

The funds can be used for a variety of purposes — for example, program operations, special projects, capital campaigns, or staffing — as long as the initiative aligns with one or more of the focus areas and contributes meaningfully to community well‑being. Examples include nonprofit health care services for underserved populations, STEM education initiatives, mentoring programs for youth, veteran housing or health projects, or literacy and wellness services for older adults.

Deadlines vary depending on the region and grant type. Organizations in one state may need to submit a Letter of Intent by a set date early in the year, followed by a full application. In the other state, a phased process with clear cut‑off dates (e.g., February and April) may apply. Grants are awarded on an annual cycle.

Funding amounts are not fixed publicly but vary by project scope and region; previous awards have ranged from modest to substantial. If your nonprofit operates in the designated geography and focuses on one or more of the key areas — health care, education, youth, veterans, or human services — this opportunity may be well worth exploring.
