Such a landscape necessitates comprehensive mental health support integrated within educational settings.
Students affected by these issues often do not have the means or access to mental health services outside of school. In fact, over 30% of Maryland's school-aged children are reported to have unmet mental health needs due to barriers such as lack of insurance, transportation issues, and overall stigmatization associated with seeking help. This presents a significant challenge for families, as schools serve as trusted environments where students can receive necessary support.
To address these critical gaps, our funding initiative focuses on implementing behavioral health integration within schools throughout Maryland.
